Writers Wipeout

Have any of you ever watched WIPEOUT? It's hilarious!
My husband was watching it while I was folding laundry and the final contestants were going through the big obstacle course.

Man, those guys get the crap beat out of them!

Anyway... I couldn't help but relate it to the road a writer takes to getting published. It is NOT easy! We work our guts out for every bit of ground we gain. And sometimes one obstacle is really simple for one person to get through while another struggles with it. Every person has different parts that seem easy for them and other parts that kick their butt. It's different for everyone.

But what's important is that we're brave enough to GO FOR IT! And the victory dance at the finish line makes it all worth while!

Have you found inspiration in an unusual place?

It’s that Akara doesn’t believe the world is worth saving.

Book Trailer:

Now a little about the Author

Eventually the day came when the voices in Kelley Lynn’s head were more insistent then her engineering professor’s. So instead of turning to her Thermodynamics book, Kelley brought up a blank page on her computer screen and wrote. Somewhere along the way she became a Young Adult author.

Kelley was born and raised a Midwestern girl. She’s not afraid to sweat and fills her free time with softball, soccer and volleyball. (Though you probably don’t want her on your volleyball team.) She occasionally makes guest appearances as a female vocalist for area bands.

You can find Kelley hanging out at her blog, titled in her name, as well as the group blog she shares with her fellow critique partners, Falling for Fiction. Kelley is a member of the Society of Children’s Books Writers and Illustrators.

And You Are....?

OH MAN! I WAS supposed to remember something today so it here it is! The fabulously fun bloghop hosted by Emily R. King and Tammy Theriault. I'm sorry I'm late, but here are my answers!

These are the "And You Are...?" questions:

1. How many speeding tickets have you gotten?

ONE! And it was only a year or two ago! I got screwed. :P 2. Can you pitch a tent?
Of course! I love camping and make sure I know what I need to know! 3. What was your worst vacation ever?
My trip to Jackson Hole this spring. hehehe And I'll have to plead the 5th on the details, but that trip was NOT fun. 4. What was the last thing you bought over $100?
Make up! *cringe* Is that bad? I spend a lot of money on make up AND face soap! 5. We're handing you the keys to what?
A boat! I want a boat desperately! Forget the car! 6. What was the last meal you cooked that made even you sick?
Hmmm. One time my husband insisted I try to make eggplant Parmesan. NOT EASY! But most importantly - don't forget to rinse the salt off the egglplant before you finish the meal. AND - don't invite the family over for dinner on your first try! 7. Fill in the blank: Oh my gosh! Becky, look at her butt! It is so big. She looks like  ____?
one of those rap stars girlfriends.   ??? Is that right? 8. What was your first car?
A '69, baby blue, Volkswagon beetle! It was the coolest car EVER! It had holes in the floor but it ROCKED! 9. Your best friend falls and gets hurt. Do you ask if he/she's okay or laugh first?
Depends on the situation, but I'd probably laugh. *hangs head* 10. What's the worst song ever?
You mean besides It's a Small World? How about the Yo Gabba Gabba Song? Or anything sung by the Fresh Beat Band!

Alright --- you ladies are awesome and I'm sorry I'm late to post for this!
Happy Holidays David Spade!!!

Christmas Presents!

WOW! This time of year is insanely hectic! I feel like I can't catch up. The good news though --- I'm spending more time writing! Wahoo! It feels good to be writing again and I love my "writing nights!"

For lack of ideas on todays post, I am going with Christmas presents! Because... I have a huge box from Amazon sitting in my closet, all closed up and dying for me to open it! What does it have besides The Amazing Spiderman movie, and Brave? BOOKS, of course!!! That's all I want this year, and usually every year. Books and couple pairs of jeans if possible. I can totally use some jeans.

But... in case you're wondering what I will be opening on Christmas morning I'm going to share!

First... I pre-ordered this but I won't get it until February. That's okay. It's worth the wait.
And these are what I'll be getting for Christmas. If I can wait that long!

SQUEEE! I can't wait!

And I know I'm going to put in at least one more book order before the holiday arrives because there are so many more I want to read. A lot of you have books coming out and if they available by Christmas they're on my list!!! So, what books would you suggest? Any great new books you've read lately? And if you have a book that'll be available for Christmas, be sure to share in the comments!
