Hookers... and a Giveaway!

No - I'm not giving away a Hooker! Sorry! But... I am participating in the Hookers & Hangers Blogfest hosted by the lovely ladies at Falling for Fiction!

This has been so much fun and has really helped me give my first lines a little more flare!

So... today we are posting our "hookers!" Or... the first sentence to our chapters (however many you choose.)

Here are a few of mine...

Fat Boys fist sailed past my face, barely missing my cheek.

No matter how hard I swam, it felt like slow motion.

I should have been happy to be alive, but having a broken wrist and lying naked in front of a bunch of men made me wish I would have died.

My eyes couldn't help but drift to the water in search of the mysterious sea monster.

Images of Logan haunted my dreams.

The clothes they gave me were too big and made for a boy, but I didn't care.

Thanks for all the fun ladies! This was very helpful AND fun!

Now...
I feel like I need to celebrate because my Facebook page reached 100 Followers! Whoo-hoo!
So, I have a $10 Amazon giftcard for one of my lucky followers!
Just use the widget below and I'll announce the winner on Friday!

When you don't know what the story is about, these first lines are very intriguing. I can't even begin to guess what the book is about.

That sounds like one exciting story. Mysterious sea monster? I'm there! :D

Excellent hooks, I especially liked:

The first line is really good. I also like 'the clothes they gave me were too big and made for a boy, but I didn't care.' Can't wait to read your hangers. Nice job.

you already know how I feel about you hookers. and your story. I love it all!

Suzi said...

The hooker of this post drew me in too. And I could use a $10 gift card much more than a hooker. Unless they cook and clean.

The others were good too. Congrats on the 100 followers.

I liked your hooks, but I had to read the first one several times to get it... I think 'cause there needs to be an apostrophe in *Boy's*

Sorry, my dyslexic brain gets confused easily :)

Carrie-Anne said...

It sounds like an intriguing story. I think my favorite is the one about the sea monster.

What an intriguing collection of first lines! Like someone else said, it's interesting reading these when you don't know the story already - like, naked and with a broken wrist in front of a bunch of men...then a mysterious sea monster...and clothes that are too big. I am so very curious!

Great work Leigh :)

Jenny Sulpizio said...

Awesome group of "hookers" you have here! Okay, that didn't sound good but considering the topic, I know you know what I mean. Love your blog, Leigh. So fun
